Principal's Message

S.S Memorial College is a leading Constituent College of the prestigious Ranchi University. It was inaugurated in the year 1972 by the then Chief Minister of Bihar Sri Kedar Pandey to impart education to the students, especially to those who belong to the lower strata of the society and the SC/ST Community. This college precisely aims at an integral and personalized education of the young by providing a well-planned Undergraduate course in regular as well as vocational streams. It aspires to produce intellectually competent, morally upright, socially accepted, spiritually inspired and nationally dedicated men and women in the service of India today and tomorrow. The college is involved in the academic exercise to inculcate wholesome values and probity in the lives of the youth of the region and empowering them with knowledge and information.

However, the academic session 2016-2019 of the undergraduate programme is going to witness a paradigm shift as the Ranchi University has decided to introduce a Choice Based Credit system (CBCS) to ensure learning among the students as per their interest, capacity and pace. The CBCS is going to be operated through the semester system in all the colleges of the University. The scheme is learner centric and simultaneously providing domain centric education. This also includes procedure of continuous learning, as well as an evaluation through the system of examination.

The students who are filling-up the forms for taking admission in the undergraduate courses are hereby, requested to read the prospectus of the college to understand the CBCS before filling up the admission form. They are also advised to seek counseling from the qualified persons before filling up the admission form. I’m sure that the learned faculties of the college will have to play the guide role in the whole process.

Like previously, a student shall opt for an Honors course in Art, Science and Commerce comprising of 140 credits, will have to choose one elective or a minor Course, generic specific of four papers. They will have to study a discipline specific course which is related to the Honours Subject and a skill development course that will also be Honours Centric.

I genuinely hope that my colleagues shall play a catalytic role in motivating the Students and will drive theme to a new world of knowledge through CBCS. My Good Wishes to the Fresher joining the S.S. Memorial College.
